Otago Signs Agreement with Top Chinese University

The University of Otago in New Zealand further strengthened its links with top universities in China this week, signing a Memorandum of Understanding and Student Exchange Agreement with Tsinghua University, which is consistently ranked, nationally and internationally, as one of the two top universities in China.
(via Univesity of Otago) The agreement was the result of a relationship that has developed since the visit of a delegation led by Vice-Chancellor Professor David Skegg to China in 2007 which included meetings at Tsinghua University.
“I am delighted to see this latest step in a number of initiatives to link the University of Otago with the best universities in China, which include our partnership with Peking University, through the New Zealand Centre, and the MoU signed with Shanghai Jiao Tong University last August,” says Professor Skegg.
“Tsinghua University is an outstanding institution which attracts brilliant students and researchers from all over China and around the world. It has been an honour to host the President of Tsinghua, Professor Gu Binglin, and his colleagues at the University of Otago,” he says.
As well as enhancing the existing collaboration at the staff and research student level, the signing of a Student Exchange Agreement means that undergraduate students at the University of Otago will now have the opportunity to spend a semester in Beijing studying at a top Chinese university, says Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Intnernational, Professor Sarah Todd.
