Auckland

Auckland is New Zealand’s largest city, with 1.3 million people.

When conflict escalates at the international level, there is a heightened awareness of the need for people to understand why and how the conflict began. Conflict also occurs at every level of society and dealing with conflict is a common requirement for many jobs. As we move further into the 21st century, there is greater need for people who have the knowledge and skills to deal with all kinds of conflict.

The Certificate in Conflict Resolution explores the motivations, gestation, evolution and resolution of conflict at three levels – personal, local and global. It also includes an applied aspect, as students learn basic skills in negotiation and mediation. This Certificate is particularly relevant for mature students with some professional or community experience. It can be used as a stand-alone qualification, or to complement an existing undergraduate degree. It can be studied concurrently with the Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences.
