Auckland

Auckland is New Zealand’s largest city, with 1.3 million people.

The programme in Architecture offers a broad, quality-focused education in the discipline of architecture that aims to equip graduates with creative design and sound technical abilities to enable them to enter a variety of professional careers related to the design of the built environment. The BArch qualification offers professional recognition to enable graduates to seek registration as architects with professional bodies.

The BArch is a qualification recognised by the New Zealand Institute of Architects for the purpose of membership, by the Architects’ Education and Registration Board for the purpose of statutory registration as a Registered Architect in New Zealand and by the Commonwealth Association of Architects list of recommended qualifications, following required periods of practical experience. Admission to the BArch requires the Bachelor of Architectural Studies from the University of Auckland, or an equivalent qualification from another tertiary institution.

Students have to complete the equivalent of two full-time years and pass courses with a total value of at least 28 points, unless credit is granted under the Admission Regulations and/or the Credit Regulations.
