Kimu arrived in NZ from Japan in August 2007.  She says, "I took a really long time until I became accustomed to the NZ culture and language.  Now I have friends, and my English is better than before I came to NZ.  I am really enjoying living here. And the food...I have put on too much weight since I arrived."

Kimu is studying in Year 12 at BDSC and her particular passion is Art - especially Maori art which she has become interested in since coming to New Zealand. She also likes drawing illustrations and cartoons.  Her other subjects are English and ESOL(English for speakers of other languages), Photography, Japanese and History.

She enjoys socialising with her host family and their friends and joining in the Kapa Haka (Maori performing arts) group at school.  She says of her time in NZ, "It is certainly hard for me to live in a foreign country and live in different environment.  but I'm sure these experiences will become best memory of my life."
