Improved Facility to Help Students Find Jobs
Wednesday, 20 August 2008
The newly refurbished "Q Block" will house Manukau Institute of Technology’s employment programmes which help student jobseekers get ready for employment or further study.
(via Maunkau Courier) Head of programmes Jim Barnes says the new block will allow the school's employment programmes to be centralised instead of scattered around the campus.
"It also brings with it more physical resources such as new suites for the teaching of literacy and additional classroom and storage space," Mr Barnes says.
Students have responded positively and appreciated that the institute was prepared to spend money on resources for them, he says.
Between 85 to 90 percent of their students are immigrants and Mr Barnes says the MIT programmes are often the "first destination for people who come to New Zealand".
Each semester MIT trains around 100 learners largely from south Auckland and Counties Manukau with most successfully getting jobs or moving on to further study.
Originally run from the top level of the block, the programmes took over the entire building after Housing New Zealand shifted premises last year.

Hello Sunny,
There is information on this website about applying to study in New Zealand. Use the “Guide to New Zealand” and “Institutions & Courses” to help you find the next steps.
Good luck, and we hope to see you in New Zealand in the future!

Applying for technical courses works the same way as applying for university. Look at the Institutions & Courses page to find the course you would like to take. You will have to apply directly to the institution you want to attend.
