New Zealand & Malaysia sign Free Trade Agreement

Wednesday, 28 October 2009

In Kuala Lumpur Monday, New Zealand Trade Minister Tim Groser signed New Zealand's seventh free trade agreement, this one with Malaysia.

The deal builds on the Australia-New Zealand free trade agreement signed with Association of Southeast Asian Nations members earlier this year.

The new agreement is expected to boost the number of foreign fee-paying students to New Zealand. Malaysia is currently the 10th largest market for international students in New Zealand.

Prime Minister John Key said the agreement was another step in forging better trade and other links between New Zealand and Southeast Asia.
