Ben and Laurette from Education New Zealand picked up the winners of the "New Zealand Through My Eyes" Chinese Student Blog competition at Auckland International airport.

They then went to ‘Nikko’, a Japanese restaurant on Auckland’s Queen Street and enjoyed meeting and getting to know one another.

The tour then went to the tallest tower in the southern hemisphere - Auckland’s Sky Tower. Although there was fog in Auckland, it cleared up quickly and the Chinese bloggers had a spectacular view across Auckland and the Harbour. They also had great fun watching people on the ‘Sky Jump’: a special setup that enables you to ‘base jump’ by wire from the Tower.

The tour then headed to Auckland Museum where the bloggers got an introduction to New Zealand culture and history. They were able to see the interior of a traditional Maori Meeting house (or Marae) – shoes off of course!
They finished off Day One with dinner at a restaurant on Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour, an area of downtown Auckland centered around dining and entertainment amidst the many yachts moored on the harbour.
By the end of Day One, everyone was exhausted after their long journey and first day experiencing New Zealand. The bloggers are all looking forward to visiting the University of Auckland and Kelly Tarlton’s Underwater World on Day Two.
