Auckland is New Zealand’s largest city, with 1.3 million people.
The Whitecliffe MA Arts Administration degree is a low-residency programme that requires attendance at eight weekends each year, plus a substantial amount of course work scheduled in the student’s own time.
Students can continue in their employment, but must schedule release time as needed.
The MA programme includes monthly two-day weekend seminars, guest speakers from industry, tutorials and discussion groups, independent study modules, and internships based on actual field experience, and written research projects. This two year Masters degree has been approved and accredited by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA). The programme has been developed to provide theoretical knowledge and professional skills from the perspective of the arts and is directed towards people with interests in theatre, film, visual arts, dance, music, design, galleries, community arts, council and government arts organisations, etc.
Programme Specific Admission Requirements
The applicant would have:
· Potential to conduct self-directed research at the Masters degree level.
· Understanding of and passion for the New Zealand arts industry.
· Work experience in the arts or in business.
· An undergraduate or equivalent academic qualification.
However, applicants are treated as individuals, each one bringing a unique mix of experience, talent and qualifications.
We support “Recognition of Prior Learning”. Which allows us to acknowledge appropriate work and life experience as equivalent to more formal academic training.
