As a Year 13 student, I believe I have to take some school responsibilities for what Kelston Boys High School has done for me in the past 4 years.  When I was a Year 9 student I was just an average mid-stream student and English being my second language, I was kind of bewildered most of the time.

However, by help of talented staff members, peers and organized school systems I was able to move on to the second highest class and became one of the top scholars of the school, winning 8 prizes last year.  As a result I received a Kelston Boys High School Scholarship this year and I continue to work hard in the friendly environment.

This year I have school responsibilities as a prefect and librarian.  Being a prefect is very special for me because it is a chosen group consisting of top quality students at school.  First, I did not even dare to have an ambition to become a prefect.  However as my popularity around school increased, I began to have the desire to be part of such a prestigious group.  I am proud to carry out my prefect duties like monitoring tuck shops and gates because I feel that I am actually influencing other students and standing out as a role model.  Being a Librarian is also important to me because I believe that I am helping out in such an important place that influences everyone by providing knowledge.

I think Kelston Boys High School provides various types of opportunities for everyone and it is up to us to make an effort to take the opportunity.  Extra curricular activities such as sports, drama and music are all available to everyone and I personally took the opportunities to play soccer in Senior C division.  It’s not the top division but the happiness and the feeling of accomplishing a victory is something you can’t buy with your money and something that I won’t forget for the rest of my life.

This School also has set my future career to take tertiary studies in science.  Due to talented teachers, I began to take a big interest in the scientific field and I now have a bigger ambition to move on to the bigger stage.  I think my ambitions are feasible because I was able to build my own strong background at Kelston Boys High School.
