Location and Facilities

Auckland is New Zealand's largest city and has a population of around 1.25 million. The school is at the base of Mount Roskill, surrounded by trees and playing fields, 15minutes from the central city and 20 minutes from the airport. The school is well equipped and proud of its range of sporting, technological, scientific and musical facilities. It has eight computer laboratories with over 400 computers, a swimming pool, two gymnasiums, artificial sports field and spacious ground, fitness centre and two newly built modern science blocks.

Academic Programme

The school prepares students for studies at universities and other tertiary institutions. A broad curriculum is offered at junior levels; specialising in senior forms with subjects such as Media, Sports Science, Photography, Design (Fashion, Technological and Graphics); Drama, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Information Technology, Business Studies, Classical Studies, Economics, Accounting, Geography, French, Art History, History, English, Maori, Japanese, Mathematics with Calculus and Statistics, Food Technology, Electronics, Music, Web Design and Tourism.

Extracurricular Programme

A full range of sporting, cultural, musical, literary and dramatic activities occur within the school outside the classroom. Outdoor education and camp experiences are also offered. Cultural groups are strong. There are musical/dramatic performances each year.

Special Relations with Overseas Schools and Students

Mount Roskill Grammar has an annual exchange with Seirinkan High School, Nagoya, Japan, each year. Exchange students are part of our mix over 60 cultures. Trips for sports and culture are encouraged e.g. France, Japan and Australia.

Student Welfare

The Manager of International Students oversees the guidance and discipline of all overseas students. A warm, caring environment is fostered. We have four counsellors, two career advisers and youth workers available.

Accommodation

Homestay situations allow international students the opportunity to live with a New Zealand family. Host families are carefully selected and arranged through the school, at NZ$200 per week.

English Language Entry Requirement

All students have an English language test before entering school and may attend our ESL unit before attending mainstream classes.

Fees 2008

Annual tuition fees are NZ$14,500, paid either annually or in two semester payments. Guardianship can be arranged.
