Artyon Tsapko

Name: Artyon Tsapko
Born: Russia
Locations: Auckland
Discipline: All Other Disciplines

Artyon Tsapko comes from the small town of Miass near the Ural Mountains in Russia.

Looking for an English language education in a safe environment, Artyon arrived this year with his mother to commence studies at the Auckland Grammar School.

Starting in Year 9, Artyon is doing well with his ESOL (English as a second language studies). He is also particularly pleased with his progress with mathematics! Even at this stage, Artyon is working towards career goals. "I want to take business-type studies, and go into business like Dad."

Artyon has also absorbed the recreational opportunities commonly enjoyed by secondary school students in New Zealand. "I like to hang about with my friends, go to movies, play computer games (but not too much!), play pool in the city, walk, skateboard and read storybooks in English for pleasure. I play soccer for a school team and like to kick a soccer ball around the park with friends at lunch time." Close accessibility to transport has made enjoying the Auckland lifestyle easy. Artyon can walk to school in 20 minutes, or easily catch a bus to the movies.

While Artyon will return to Russia over the New Zealand summer holiday break, he will be returning for Year 10 studies, and looks forward to continuing his New Zealand education.
