Location and facilities

Sacred Heart College is set on 26 hectares of parklike grounds in a quiet suburb 20 minutes from the city centre and 35 minutes from Auckland International Airport. Facilities include a large modern gymnasium, 3 heated swimming pools, astroturf tennis courts, a state of the art technology suite, two computer laboratories, an extensive library, an auditorium and a chapel.

The aim of the College is to ensure every student reaches their full potential in a safe and supportive environment. Christian ethics are the foundation of the college and concern for others is an important part of the everyday life of the college.

Curriculum subjects include: Accounting, Art, Biology, Chemistry, Economics, English, English for speakers of other languages, Geography, Graphics, History, Hospitality and Catering, Computer Studies, Japanese, Mathematics, Media Studies, Music, Photography, Physical Education, Physics, Religious Studies, Science, Applied Science, Skills for Living, Sports Science, Technology, Maori, Transition, Travel and Tourism

Extracurricular Programmes

In order to provide for and develop the whole person Sacred Heart offers a wide range of extracurricular opportunities. These include: Music- bands, choirs and orchestras. Drama and debating. Polynesian cultural groups. Sports offered include; athletics, badminton, basketball, chess, cricket, cycling, golf, mountain biking, rowing, rugby, skiing, snow boarding, soccer, softball, swimming, table tennis, touch rugby, volleyball and water polo. Students may also join the Duke of Edinburgh leadership scheme and the St Vincent de Paul Society service group.

Accommodation

Hostel accommodation is available at the college where 160 boarders live on site. Homestay accommodation may be provided with appropriately vetted local New Zealand families

Student Welfare

The Manager of International Students works in conjunction with the Director of Pastoral Care and the year level Deans to ensure the safety and welfare of all International Students. International Students have access to the college Guidance Counselor and own language counselors may be provided if necessary.

English for International Students

A full ESOL course is offered and students may continue ESOL classes as long as they require. All ESOL teachers are fully qualified

English Language Entry Requirements

All International Students are assessed for their English competency at the time of enrolment and may be required to attend an approved language school for a period before commencing at the college.

Tuition Fees

Annual tuition fees are $13,000.
