Educational Institutions
Thames High School
Thames High School is one of New Zealand's oldest secondary schools and has been offering quality education for nearly 130 years. Approximately 650 students from Year 9 to Year 13 attend the school, which has a proud academic record and a wide range of sporting and cultural activities. This semi-rural institution is small enough to care, but big enough to offer exciting opportunities.

Coromandel
You can easily get to the beautiful Coromandel from Auckland and Hamilton.
Thames High School is the only fully secondary school on the Coromandel Peninsula and therefore offers a wider and more comprehensive curriculum. All International students are guaranteed specialised tuition by well qualified ESOL teachers, and also have access to intranet as well internet facilities, in a well-resourced ICT Department. Free music tuition is available for most instruments and the school boasts a fair-sized orchestra as well as a rock band sector. The school participates and excels in many sporting codes and the top-class sporting facilities are accessible and near to the school. Outdoor Education is now a new subject on the curriculum.
Close co-operation with Evakona (a neighbouring language school) enables further courses and services to be offered such as Elementary Intensive English, High School Preparation and after-school tuition.
Thames itself is a thriving community of 7,000 people and is the service centre as well as the gateway to the Coromandel Peninsula. It is located only one hour’s drive from Auckland International Airport. The town is situated in exquisitely beautiful surroundings of forests, mountains and sea. An area website www.thecoromandel.com, gives further detailed information of this paradisical locality.
The annual tuition fee is NZ$9,500 plus a $500 admin fee. The International Student Levy is the responsibility of the student. Home stay accommodation (full board - all food plus laundry) can be arranged for NZ$200 per week.
