Location and Facilities

The school is located in Riccarton, a Christchurch suburb about 6 km from the city centre, in close proximity to the University of Canterbury. Students enjoy spacious, attractively laid out grounds and modern classrooms, laboratories and equipment, which facilitate high standards of attainment in all subjects. There is a large modern sports centre providing superb facilities for physical education, health education, indoor sports and fitness training, a spacious library andcomputer laboratories.

Each institution provides academic programmes according to the National Qualifications Framework as set by the New Zealand Ministry of Education.

Middleton Grange School

International students can apply for a place in any of these schools. Acceptance into Middleton GrangeSchooldepends on English language ability, previous academic record and availability of places. All Middleton Grange learning institutions have high expectations for students. There are a wide range of subjects and excellent facilities. With both domestic and international students we encourage excellence. International students must have a proven record ofexcellent achievement and 90% usually qualify for a university entrance qualification in Year 13.

Middleton Grange International College

The International College is a co-educational high school (Years7-13; ages 11 and over). The College offers programmes that have been specifically designed to meet the academic and language needs of international students.

On arrival students are given a thorough orientation, are assessed for class placement and an individual programme is designed to meet the needs of the student.

We have high expectations of staff and students. We also encourage parents to participate in the education of their children and welcome visits and direct communication. Year 11 NCEA Course
For students preparing for further study at NCEA Levels 2 and 3 in the following years. A special English course designed for international pupils.

Year 12 NCEACourse
For students preparing for University Entrance andYear 13 NCEA Level 3in the following year.Specialcourses have been designed for those students wanting to study business or science subjects at university.

Year 13 NCEACourse
For students preparing for university. Students will sitNCEALevel 3 examinations and minimum literacy requirementsnecessary to gainentrance to a New Zealand university.

We offer a wide range of subjects at all levels and at theYear 12 and Year 13level they include special courses for international students in:

We have excellent working relationships with local universities and tertiary institutions. Regular contact with enrolment officers helps students enrol in the tertiary institutions of their choice.

Extracurricular Programme

The school offers a very wide range of sporting and outdoor activities. There are many opportunities in music and drama.

Special Relations with Overseas Schools and Students

We welcome students from overseas and have students from many parts of Asia, South Americaand Europe. We enjoy exchange visits from students from around the world and have sister relationships with many overseas schools. We have hosted several AFS students. We value the contribution these students make to the life of our school.

Student Welfare

We care about the welfare of our international students. Every international student, unless living with parents or a designated caregiver, must have a school approved care provider and accomodation agent. These care providers are responsible for students in our care and liaise with our Manager of Care Providers in matters that relate to school life.

Accommodation

Homestay accommodation is arranged by the care provider and accomodation agent. The care provider and accomodation agent will meet students at the airport and ensure the student is given every encouragement in the initial adjustment to New Zealand. The care provider and accomodation agent reports regularly to natural parents.

Tuition Fees

Tuition fees are NZ$14,500 pa.
Administration Fee NZ$300, non-refundable.
Homestay fee NZ$220 pw (NZ$11,440 pa)
Care provider and Accomodation Agent NZ$3,375 pa.
Insurance $470 pa. Insurance is compulsory and is organised by the school.
