Esther Hye-Rang Kim was born in Seoul, Korea, though spent most of her early years in Anyang City. Immediately on graduation from high school, she decided to investigate international options for her tertiary study.
To Esther, New Zealand offered a secure environment to study - modern university facilities with excellent equipment, and the comfort of family living close by. She chose the University of Auckland, and completed a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in International Trade in 1996.
In many ways, New Zealanders take for granted the high standard of living we enjoy - good public transport systems, spacious accommodation options, fresh food and easy accessibility to world-class study facilities. However, for many of our international students, such as Esther, the New Zealand lifestyle presents an environment quite different to their home. In Auckland, Esther (in her own words) "enjoyed living in affluent circumstances".
Esther has now progressed within her career to the position of Manager overseas operations for Humanopia Corporation, a private weather company in Korea.
