Changes to visa policy for international students announced

Many international students will be able to stay in New Zealand for up to 12 months, instead of six, on a job search permit while they look for skilled work. These changes set out an easier pathway for students to gain residence.
Many international students will be able to stay in New Zealand for up to 12 months, instead of six, on a job search permit while they look for skilled work. These changes set out an easier pathway for students to gain residence.
Changes announced by the New Zealand Minister of Immigration on 24 October 2007 include:
• Extension of duration for Graduate Job Search Permit from 6 months to 12 months
• Extension of duration for Practical Experience Work Permit from two years to three years
• Changes to the requirements for work access for English language students.
