Location and Facilities
Situated in the internationally acclaimed wine region of New Zealand, Blenheim is a friendly and welcoming community for young people to develop their confidence in a new country and school.
The College is located 10 minutes walk from the centre of Blenheim and 10 minutes drive from the airport. The College facilities include a library / information technology centre, computer laboratories, music and drama facilities, gymnasiums, dance room, technology suites, art rooms, science laboratories, all weather tennis courts and extensive sports fields.
Academic Programmes
Marlborough Girls' College caters for students from 13 to 18 years of age. The New Zealand National Curriculum is taught at all levels with a wide range of subjects taught in the senior school in preparation for students to apply to tertiary institutions. International Students who enrol at Marlborough Girls' College are expected to be motivated and work hard.
English Language Support
Qualified English as Second Language Teachers teach beginner to pre-university courses (which includes preparation for International English Language Examinations such as IELTS). Additional English language development via specialized computer programmes is available. Class sizes are no larger than 12 students.
Course Commencement
Students are welcome into the programme at any time.
Co- Curricular Programme
The co-curricular programme offers opportunities in music, speech, drama and sport. Instrumental and vocal tuition are available. A wide range of sporting opportunities are provided. New players are always welcome. International students are encouraged to participate in the co-curricular programme.
The International Department also runs an activities programme for International Students. This provides the opportunity for students to learn more about New Zealand culture, try new sports and hobbies, and visit cities such as Wellington.
Student Welfare
Students are met at the airport and introduced to their new home stay as part of the orientation programme. All international students are given individual help in selecting programmes of work. The Director of International Students provides all international students with ongoing guidance and support.
Accommodation
The College will arrange accommodation either in the boarding establishment, Innes House, or in homestay. Innes House is a small family type hostel providing caring supervision. Meals take into account individual dietary preferences. Quality homestays with friendly caring New Zealand families carefully chosen to meet the needs of the international student can be arranged. All home stay families receive training and support from the Accommodation Officer.
Fees
The annual tuition fee: is $nz11, 500:00. This includes ESOL tuition. The accommodation fee is $nz9200:00 per year, which includes the school holidays except for the Christmas / New Year break. These fees do not include the cost of private music tuition, uniform or examination entries. Students are required to have adequate medical and property insurance. The fees are payable 12 months in advance.
