Elite International School of Beauty and Spa Therapies
Elite International School of Beauty and Spa Therapies Ltd has been in operation since 1998 and with its 4 campuses in the North Island is the largest private provider of beauty therapy training in New Zealand. The first campus was situated at William Pickering Drive, but in August 2003 and again in December 2006 the campus had to re-locate to larger purpose built premises.

In November 2004, the Joyce Blok Institute merged with Elite International. The Joyce Blok Institute has had a long and successful history, starting in 1975. This school’s dedication to high professional standards has built a distinguished reputation with students, employers and the New Zealand beauty therapy industry as a whole.
In March 2005 Elite International opened a campus in Hamilton. In the past students had to travel to Auckland to obtain International qualifications demanded by employers in beauty therapy. A campus in Hamilton means that students have access to opportunities and career prospects in the beauty therapy industry without leaving the Waikato. In July 2007 the Hamilton campus relocated to new refurbished premises which raise the standard of training Elite International will be able to offer in the Waikato.
In July 2007 Elite International acquired the Beauty Therapy College of New Zealand. The College was started by Joyce Blok in 1973 and is New Zealand’s longest established beauty therapy training provider. Joyce Blok sold the College and went on to start the Joyce Blok Institute in 1975. It is interesting to note that these two institutions founded by the same person have served the industry in New Zealand for over 30 years independently and are now part of the Elite International Group.
Interesting also is that Judy West who was originally trained by Joyce Blok is now the principal of both the Joyce Blok and Newmarket campuses. After gaining her ITEC Physiatrist diploma, Judy spent seven years working in the Joyce Blok houses of skin care before becoming Registrar of the Joyce Blok training school in Henderson. When the Selfcare Group moved the school to Ellerslie Judy re-established it and today remains the principal of the Joyce Blok campus within the Elite International Group.
Judy is President of the New Zealand section of CIDESCO as well as an International Examiner for CIDESCO. She also established the Beauty Practitioners Training Council and is the President of the New Zealand Beauty Therapy Association and has worked on the NZQA Unit standards for the profession.
Over the past 25 years Judy has trained thousands of students and remains the principal tutor of body therapy at the Ellerslie and Newmarket campuses.
