The Polytechnic has a great reputation for Audio Engineering, Contemporary Music Performance, Live Sound and Event Production, Jade and Hard Stone Carving, Outdoor Recreation and Ski Patrol.
The West Coast is an outdoor mecca with the Buller River, Paparoa National Park, Pancake Rocks at Punakaiki, Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers, the Southern Alps, Temple Basin Ski Field, climbing at Charleston, lots of lakes and the hottest kayaking in the country. It's your backyard.
The Music and Audio Institute of New Zealand, a subsidiary of Tai Poutini Polytechnic offers specialist courses in music, audio and sound from two central campuses. The first with its purpose built studios in Victoria Street, Central Auckland and the second in musically centered High Street, Christchurch.
Our Mountain Education Centre of New Zealand operates from Wanaka with a specialist course in Ski Patrol based on the Treble Cone Ski Area, where we have a ski-to day lodge - a unique facility to cater for our trainee ski patrollers and leadership and guiding students.

Facilities
The Polytechnic has modern, purpose-built facilities and highly skilled academic and support staff. All campuses have library, student support and literacy support.
Accommodation
In Greymouth Tai Poutini Polytechnic has a range of accommodation sites within close walking distance of the main campus and situated only 600 meters from the downtown shopping centre. Private board and rental accommodation is also available close to the campus.
In Auckland and Christchurch there is numerous accommodation options available and help can be provided is needed.
In Wanaka students normally share rental accommodation, which is readily available.
Academic Year and Admissions
Most programmes commence in February each year.
