I am Reema Janvekar from the city of Mumbai, India. I am nearing the end of my Hospitality Programme with NSIA which began two years ago. Looking back, I realize that time has flown so quickly. I guess my life in NSIA did not make me realize that I am almost at the end of my programme.
Life in NSIA was so much fun. Along with our studies we had loads of entertainment too. Every year the Academy would organize a picnic for the students and the staff at one of the beautiful beaches of Auckland with food and drinks on the house. Besides the annual outings we also have an outing every quarter where friends and families of students and staff are also invited. I am sure I am going to miss all of that when I graduate.
This Academy has helped me broaden my knowledge of the Hotel Industry. It was easy to grasp as the curriculum was more practical based than just theoretical. We get placed in the Industry while we are studying. This gives us an opportunity to apply our theoretical knowledge at our work place on a daily basis therefore making the entire learning process simpler. The best part is that it is a paid internship which, in my opinion, is very helpful to international students like us.
The last thing that I would like to mention is that NSIA gave me a lot of encouragement and support when I decided to take part in one of the Ethnic Radio Channels for a singing contest where I was awarded the First Prize for winning the competition.
I would like to thank NSIA for providing me with a good foundation for my future…
