Patric Nordbeck came to Massey University from Sweden in 2007 and is now in his final year of study towards a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in philosophy and psychology. Massey University offered Patric a chance to study psychology, something he could not have easily done in Sweden. So why come to the other side of the world to study? Patric explains that he chose New Zealand as it was so far from home to be a really unique adventure, but still offered the security of being an English speaking country.
Patric is very complimentary about the excellent standard of the internal courses taught at Massey University and says “My studies of psychology and philosophy at Massey University have provided a good base for moving on to a Masters Degree and PhD.”
Living in student accommodation on campus has helped Patric to meet students from a wide range of nationalities and learn about different perspectives on life, “This has helped me to grow incredibly as a person”, Patric says.
Patric is president of the Massey University Handball Club, through which he organises tournaments and coaches players. Patric has also had the opportunity to travel around New Zealand and experience some “...incredible hospitality from New Zealanders.”
