I am from Lyon, France, and doing a Master of Laws degree (LLM) at the Law Faculty. My area of interest is in environmental and international law. Before coming to Victoria University I spent 3 years at the Université Jean Moulin, Lyon 3 and 5 years studying in France and the UK.
Spending a year in the UK encouraged me to consider further study abroad. My home university has an exchange relationship with Victoria so it was easy to get information and apply for the Master of Laws. As part of my LLM I’ll be taking up an internship with the Department of Conservation. This will enable me to gain experience in legal services
and consent processes within a government conservation department.
Overall I’ve found life at Victoria and Wellington to be very relaxed and friendly, especially compared with France. The staff at the university are very approachable and there is a well organised network of student services. Wellington is a safe place to live and is relatively inexpensive.
Wellington is New Zealand’s capital city. It’s full of cafes, bars and theatres and has a beautiful harbour.
