New Year Underway for NZ Students
Tuesday, 17 February 2009
The 2009 academic year is beginning in New Zealand, with international students arriving from around the world to begin or continue their studies in New Zealand.
Secondary students have been back in class for over a week already, and are beginning to get used to their schools and their new homes.
Meanwhile, students at the Universities or Polytechnics and Institutes of Technology are arriving at their campuses for orientation. International orientation events help new students to become more familiar with the campus, learn about the student services available, and complete their enrollment in courses for their first semester.
Most institutions are holding international orientation this week or next week, prior to classes beginning. While this is an important event for new students to gather information, it is also a chance to meet other new students at the institution and make friends on campus.
Students also have the opportunity to learn about clubs and activities on campus that will give them even more chances to make friends with other students who have similar interests.
