Academic Programme
The school offers a full range of academic courses at years 11, 12 and 13 with qualifications to the highest level attainable in a New Zealand secondary school. Preparation of students for study at university, polytechnics and other tertiary institutions is a key part of all programmes. Opportunities are provided for international students to study towards international English language qualifications where appropriate.
International Student Programme
The international student programme is kept deliberately small in order to maximise the benefits for all students. The school accepts enrolments of international students of a variety of ages and nationalities up to a total in any one year of twenty students.
All students are accommodated in homestays and the school employs a homestay co-ordinator and an ESOL teacher to assist and support students during their stay.
All international students receive ESOL tuition and assistance. The International programme also provides opportunities for students to experience New Zealand life outside of the classroom with field trips and excursions to other South Island destinations. Students will also get the chance to experience outdoor activities such as the school's Challenge Ropes Course, ski-trips, farm life as well as sporting and cultural activities.
The tuition fee covers all costs relating to school programmes including subject fees, stationery costs, required study material, class trips and most ESOL organised excursions. The tuition fee does not cover costs for specialist courses e.g. year 12 Outdoor Education, sports club fees, materials used in technology classes, or examination fees.
Students in Years 9 - 12 will wish to purchase school uniform at a cost of approximately $NZ300, or may choose to hire the uniform.
