Name: Momo Konta

Locations: Christchurch - Canterbury
Discipline: All Other Disciplines
Moma Konta started her New Zealand education with secondary schooling three years ago.
Having completed NCEA Level 1 Certificate last year at Avonside Girls’ High School, this year she continues with the Level 2 programme – studying Science, Mathematics, English, accounting and Computing.
“I’ve enjoyed the extra choices of subjects that I can have and covering subjects at more depth. I think that New Zealand students are encouraged to take more responsibility for their own learning and to think carefully as they plan and choose their future courses. I’ve also learnt to be more independent.
I’ve really enjoyed my time at Avonside. Next year I will be in Year 13, studying for NCEA Level 3, and then I hop to go to University to study Veteninary Science or Animal Studies.”
During her time in New Zealand, highlights for Moma have been learning in English; meeting people and being involved in sport after school, playing badminton and volleyball.
“I’ve made lots of friends – from Korea, Thailand and of course, New Zealand.”
Christchurch is the main centre of the Canterbury region, an elegant old city close to the Southern Alps.
