Why are you studying English?

Nowadays, English is our lingua franca. It enables people from different countries to communicate with each other. As I studied tourism, English is crucial and is the way that most companies conduct their business. That is the reason I am studying Shakespeare’s language.

Why did you choose SLEC?

Honestly, the choice of the school didn’t come from me but from my agent. He told me about a nice place in New Zealand where people enjoy being and where I could pass the CAE examination. So I took the opportunity and I believe I made the right decision.

What is your favourite part about being a student at SLEC?

Undoubtedly, the college is pleasantly and conveniently located. My teachers are really great and try to vary their way of teaching everyday with new exercises. SLEC is also the place to meet people from different nationalities and most of the time the possibilities of making new buddies.

What do you like most about Queenstown?

We cannot deny the fact that Queenstown is the capital of adventure. This town boasts a large range of adrenaline activities! My hair raising experience with no doubt was the bungy jump! It was just amazing! The big draw card of Queenstown is the security – you feel secure at any time.

What are your plans for the future?

In the short term, I am planning on staying in New Zealand for one year in order to become reasonably fluent in both spoken and written English. One of my main goals is to work in the tourism industry here as it can give me the chance to extend my practical skills and broaden my horizons.

What would you tell students considering SLEC?

You won’t regret it! Queenstown has so much to offer and Southern Lakes English College will be a good start for you if you want to stay longer in New Zealand. Furthermore, the staff (including teachers) is really nice. Just do it! J
