Enrique Humeres

Enrique Humeres has an engineering degree and job offers waiting for him in his native Chile, but he would like to work in Christchurch for a few years before he goes home.

After studying English at CPIT last year, Enrique is now completing a NZ Diploma of Business Management. “I will return to my country, but if I can spend a couple of years working here to improve my business and English skills that will be great,” he said.

He was unfazed by the February earthquake and keen to get back into his studies.

“In Chile we have earthquakes. And, earthquakes aside, I had a good experience here, no problems, everyone is so kind. I feel comfortable here at CPIT. Christchurch is like a green place, the Garden City, with many outdoor activities and I love the sport here.

“Because of the earthquake there is a plan B for everything! In that way, we received a lot of support, it showed we are all together, working together and helping each other. I like the people and culture here. New Zealand is family-oriented, like my country.”

Enrique chose CPIT for the practical aspect of the training and he has been very pleased with this decision. “The facilities are really good, the library, well, I have the proper conditions for studying,” he said.
