University of Canterbury Foundation Studies
The Certificate in Foundation Studies is a 26-week programme that assists students to meet the basic entry requirements for undergraduate study at New Zealand universities. The programme enables students to meet the academic and English language entry requirements for most undergraduate degree programmes offered by the University of Canterbury.

Christchurch - Canterbury
Christchurch is the main centre of the Canterbury region, an elegant old city close to the Southern Alps.
The programme provides excellent preparation for degree study and classes are held in many of the same classrooms and laboratories that students will use later in their degree. Students are also able to interact academically and socially with staff and students from different cultures.
The Foundation Studies programme encourages independent learning. Students can choose some of the courses they undertake from a wide range of electives so they can study what interests them. Courses are offered in Social Sciences, Humanities, Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences and Business. Students also have the opportunity to study with New Zealand students who are also undertaking preparatory programmes.
The programme is divided into two sections, each with three start dates per year (February, June and October). This allows students to move seamlessly into the programme after completing their English language study. Students who undertake the February intake of Foundation Studies may, after completing the programme, undertake Summer School courses that they can credit to their degree.
