Freyberg High School
Freyberg High School is a state co-educational high school with a roll of just over 1250. It is located in Palmerston North City, the home of Massey University. FHS places importance on academic, cultural, sporting achievements and the personal development of its students as individuals. Location and Facilities
Palmerston North is a small safe and prosperous city (population 75,000) with a strong focus on education. Named 'The Knowledge City', it hosts Massey University, the International Pacific College (a second university), UCOL (Universal College of Learning) and seven Secondary Schools. Palmerston North is just 2 hours away from the capital city of Wellington and is also located within easy access to ski fields, parks, beaches and forests. The climate is warm in summer and mild in winter.

Freyberg High School welcomes international students and values this contact with other cultures. At present we have students from 20 different countries.
Student Welfare
In addition to the academic programme and the student support network offered to all students, international students have fully qualified specialist teachers and an International Student Support Manager to provide homestay and pastoral support at all times.
Accommodation
The school arranges homestay accommodation. Homestays are a great opportunity for the student to speak everyday English, to learn about the NZ culture and to share in the NZ lifestyle with a caring and supportive family. Regular contact is maintained with homestay families to ensure that the ongoing welfare needs of students are met. Students at the airport and taken and introduced to their homestay host family.
Enrolment Dates
Applications for enrolment are welcomed throughout the year. The academic year commences in late January and finishes in early December. Starting dates throughout the year by arrangement of the Principal. Students entering for National Qualifications are required to be in attendance for the full academic year.
English Language Entry Requirements
Some prior learning of English is required, as all instruction will be in English. Evidence of prior English language instruction is required on application.
English Language Support
Our fully trained ESOL teachers offer a comprehensive ESOL programme. Students are prepared for the IELTS and the NZ Speech Board examinations in their final year. Students are offered the opportunity to sit the Pitmans ESOL examination at lower levels. Programmes of Support English are tailored to meet the individual needs of students. All new students undertake an introductory intensive English and Orientation Programme which familiarises them with everyday English and the facilities of Palmerston North and the school.

Annual tuition fee: NZ$9,300
Homestay and Pastoral Support: NZ$750 per annum
Homestay: NZ$175 per week
Introductory Orientation Programme: NZ$500

Special Activities (eg National exams and trips) NZ$ 500-800 per annum
Health and Travel Insurance NZ$400-650 per annum
