Academic Programme
The college offers a wide-ranging curriculum of academic and vocationally based subjects taught by highly qualified and expert staff. New Zealand National Curriculum courses are taught from years nine to thirteen (forms 3 - 7). Students at Tauranga Girls' College consistently achieve outstanding results in external examinations as well as national and international success.
English Language Requirements
Tauranga Girls' College expects that students can show that they have reached a level of English language ability which will enable them to take part in the school curriculum. (Level 3 - 4 on the International English Standards scale). Students are tested on their English language ability upon arrival and are placed in the class most suited to their needs. ESOL classes are provided to support students where appropriate. Senior students are trained for the IELTS examination, an entry requirement for New Zealand tertiary institutions.
Activities
Participation in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities is encouraged in order to develop the skills and confidence of the young women in our care. A wide range of sports is offered, including athletics, badminton, netball, golf, swimming, tennis and volleyball, and in the cultural area girls may chose to become involved in such activities as choirs, orchestras, debating and drama. We are proud of the number of students who experience national and international success in a wide range of cultural and sporting opportunities.
Facilities
The college occupies a 10.75 hectare site approximately 10 minutes drive from Tauranga's central business district. Students have many facilities available to them on campus, including a heated swimming pool, large sports field, netball and tennis courts, gymnasium complex, drama/video studio, media equipment, keyboard music laboratory, photography dark room, ceramic bay, pottery kiln, multimedia studio, 6 computer laboratories and a multi-resource library. International students are encouraged to use the Internet facilities in the library to enable them to email home to keep in touch with family and friends.
Student Welfare
The Director of International Students is available to oversee all aspects of your daughter's education and to give her support and advice when she has personal or academic concerns. The Year Deans guide her academic choices and the Homestay Co-ordinator works to ensure the homestay experience is a pleasant one.
Fees
The annual tuition fee is NZ$11,500 (incl GST). Homestay accommodation with a carefully chosen local family costs NZ$300 placement and NZ$180 per week. Medical, travel and personal property insurance is a condition of enrolment and costs NZ$450.
