Department & Course Overview
Department of Business: CSM College's courses in Business allow students to gain a broad range of general business skills and knowledge, followed by an opportunity to focus on career related options. The focuses of thecourses are management and marketing with an international focus. They provide a springboard for higher level study in business related courses in New Zealand, Australia or Britain.
Department of Golf: CSM College's programmes in Golf allow students to advance their own game and knowledge of golf followed by an opportunity to focus on career related options. They provide a springboard for a professional golf career in New Zealand, Australia or Asia
The aim is to improve and build on each students golfing ability, and provide pathways for them within the golfing industry throughout the world. Students can study English so as to further their opportunities of work in the golfing industry.
Department of English: CSM College's courses in English Studies allow students to raise their level of fluency in the English language to a level where they can communicate effectively in oral and written English. The aim of the course is to improve and build on each students English ability, teach them the English language and provide pathways for further study or work in an English speaking country or in their home country.
Staff
CSM College Business professors, Golf professionals and English language tutors, are all highly qualified and have a great deal of experience.
Many of them have specialised in core subject areas, as well as having taught overseas.
All CSM College staff have a positive and caring attitude towards our students allowing them to thrive in a safe and secure environment.
CSM College promotes the Communicative Teaching approach which allows a more dynamic way of learning and allows the student to progress quickly and thoroughly.
Class/group Sizes
CSM College’s policy is to keep the student-teacher ratio low, at approximately 1:12 for English Studies; 1:15 for Business and small core groups of 4 for Golf.
Facilities
CSM College campus is set in two acres of landscaped grounds surrounded by many trees. It is the only private international student campus of its size in New Zealand. It provides an extremely safe environment conducive to study which is very reassuring to parents overseas.
It has a main administration area, teaching block, a video room and a computer room and library resources. There is a large cafeteria which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner every day, including weekends. The college campus has a putting surface, chipping green and a 4 berth golf driving box with floodlights for night practice. The campus is situated on a major bus line, giving students easy access to the city centre and to the many wonderful activities and places around Christchurch city.
Accommodation
CSM College has two accommodation hostels (one male; one female) which are well-equipped modern buildings. Students share 2 per room; there is a rest area/lounge in each hostel.
CSM College can also arrange quality homestays for those students wanting to experience the New Zealand (Kiwi) way of living. Once a student has experienced the safe and secure college hostel environment they may want to venture into a home with a Kiwi family.
