New Plymouth Girls' High School is a state girls' secondary school on a site of 11 hectares of attractive park-like grounds. New Plymouth Girls' High School is a school which equips students with the thinking and interpersonal skills needed in the 21st century,building on over a century of tradition in preparing young women for life and study beyond school.

The school has the facilities to provide excellent education in all disciplines, English, Social Sciences, Commerce, Science, Music, Mathematics, Languages, Fine Arts, Performing Arts, Computing, Home Economics, Graphics, Workshop Technology and Physical Education. Small group and or individual tuition are providedfor students requiring learning support. The school excels in a wide range of sporting and cultural pursuits. ESOL teachers assist with students English language needs.

The city of New Plymouth skirts the coast of the Taranaki Peninsula with swimming, surfing, sailing, parks within an easy 10 minute walk of the school. Within 30 minutes New Plymouth also provides snowboarding, skiing or tramping. New Plymouth has a national Airport where students can fly direct from most major centres around New Zealand. New Plymouth is a 45 minute flight from Auckland and Wellington.
