Alpha Educational Institute

Alpha Educational Institute was established in 1995 as a language school to provide a unique opportunity for younger students to be thoroughly and adequately prepared with a strong foundation for their secondary school education. We have established a reputation for excellence in this through our careful diagnostic testing, quality teaching materials and delivery, detailed reporting to parents and schools, and thorough pastoral care of students.

Alpha has also developed separate Adult programmes, Holiday programmes and Individual tuition for students. In addition, Alpha is validated to offer the Trinity College London Certificate in TESOL Course, an internationally recognized teacher training course for the teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages. For teachers for whom English is an additional language, we offer short term intensive Teacher Training courses which prepare them for teaching English in their own country.

• Intensive English for High School Preparation - up to one year; following the 4 x ten-week school terms
• Intensive English for Exam Preparation (IELTS) - 10 to 15 weeks

• Registration Fee - $150 (courses over 4 weeks)
• High School Prep. 24 hours pw - First 10 wks - $320 pw, thereafter $300 pw
• Adult 24 hours pw - First 10 wks - $310 pw, thereafter $280 pw
• Adult 14 hours pw - First 10 wks - $210 pw, thereafter $190 pw
• Adult 10 hours pw - $115 pw
• Holiday Programmes - $320 or $360 pw

Accommodation

Alpha works in cooperation with Student Links New Zealand to provide comfortable and affordable home-stay accommodation in close proximity to the school. Typical placement fee is $170 and weekly board is $210.

General

AEI is a unique school which offers not only English tuition for adults, but specializes in the preparation of school-aged students for mainstream study within the New Zealand education environment and the training of TESOL teachers. A very warm and positive learning environment is generated by the team of tutors, allowing students to move through the big adjustment curve of changing countries and cultures and the main language of learning in a way that sets them up for success in the High School or work environment. Students are encouraged to take risks in an affirming environment, develop independent study and research skills through creative and innovative programmes, both inside and outside the classroom.
