Bethlehem College International School
The campus aims to equip young people with a well-rounded, quality education. The International School provides students with bridging courses into mainstream studies. All students are assessed upon entry and placed in an appropriate course level. There is also the opportunity for students to study for unit standards, NCEA Literacy Levels 1 & 2 and the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) examination. All staff are qualified and experienced.
Bridging Course Subjects:
- English as a second language
- Mathematics science
- Computing
- Business studies
- Physical education
- New Zealand studies
These subjects give students the necessary skills and language to integrate successfully into mainstream high school studies.
To fulfil these goals, the school offers:
- high academic expectations and encouragement to succeed
- individual attention with small numbers in all bridging classes
- access to Bethlehem College specialist facilities – science and computer laboratories
- a caring, supportive and disciplined learning environment that encourages and supports individual levels of excellence while valuing co-operative endeavour across groups, language and culture
- opportunities to discover and develop Christian values, lifestyle and philosophy, at the same time respecting the religious belief and faith of all students.
The International School is sited in close proximity to Bethlehem College Secondary so that students can benefit from and feel part of the whole school environment. On the successful completion of the Bridging Course, students may then make application to further their education at Bethlehem College Secondary, or at a high school in New Zealand.
Accommodation
The International School is a signatory to the Ministry of Education’s Code of Practice. All students live with homestay families.
