Hamilton's Fraser High School

The Waikato region has New Zealand’s longest river and its best surf break, Raglan.

The school is one and a half hours from Auckland airport by car. The school has just over 30 international students from Asian, Pacific, European and South American countries.

Student timetables are arranged to suit individual needs, and students may study at more than one level.

English for Speakers of Other Languages

Specialist teachers with postgraduate qualifications in ESOL teach extensive programmes, and prepare students for ESOL� and English qualifications.�ESOL qualified tutors also support students in individual programmes. ESOL classes are taught in a purpose-built International Student Centre incorporating�three classrooms and a seminar room.

Extracurricular Programme

The school has a very fine orchestra, choir and stage band and provides individual tuition for students. Musical and dramatic productions are a highlight of the school year. Groups such as theatresports, drama and debating are popular with students.

All pupils are encouraged to play their chosen sport and teams (both competitive and social) are available for students to join. Hamilton's Fraser High School has over 80 sports teams, which participate in the following codes: athletics, badminton, basketball, cricket, cross-country running, cycling, hockey, netball, rowing, rugby, soccer, softball, squash, swimming, table tennis, ten pin bowling, triathlon, volleyball and water polo.

Student Support

The School provides high quality care for its international students through its full time Director of International Students. He is responsible for enrolments, the academic progress of students and making contact with agents and parents. He also oversees homestays and gives pastoral care support on an ongoing basis.

Accommodation

The Homestay Manager arranges homestay and assists with student welfare. She also assists with banking,�insurance and visa applications.Students can be met at Auckland International Airport and taken to their accommodation.

Tuition Fees 2008

Annual tuition fee: NZ$10,000. Administration Fee: NZ$500. Homestay cost: NZ$180/week.
