Diocesan School For Girls

Diocesan School for Girls is an independent all-girls school catering for around 1600 students from Year 1 to Year 13. Our Epsom site is in central Auckland, New Zealand's largest and most dynamic city set on a magnificent harbour and surrounded by beautiful coastline and bush. Our state-of-the-art facilities and resources provide a stimulating learning environment which encourages students to believe in themselves and reach their potential.

Auckland

Auckland

Auckland is New Zealand’s largest city, with 1.3 million people.

Academic Programmes

Our International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma and NCEA programmes offer senior students a dual educational pathway so they can choose the qualification that best meets their individual needs in an increasingly global society. The IB Diploma for Year 12 and 13 students enables them to enter some of the world’s most prestigious universities. Our Junior School offers the IB’s Primary Years’ Programme.

English Language Support

Our Centre for Enhancement of Learning assesses individual student learning needs and provides English as a Second Language teaching across all subject areas individually, in pairs or small groups.

Extracurricular Programmes

Students at Diocesan School for Girls can develop their talents and balance their academic study by joining sports teams, dance groups, learning musical instruments, enrolling in individual speech and drama lessons or by participating in our choirs, orchestras, bands, annual show and concerts.

We have a rich history of achievement across a range of sports codes and many students succeed internationally. The performing arts of drama, music, dance, debating and theatre sports are a well-established and dynamic part of Diocesan.

Student Welfare

Our comprehensive pastoral care includes counselling, health, chaplaincy services, careers advice, a buddy system, peer mediators and an International Students’ Club. Our pastoral care team puts the personal welfare of students first and helps international students settle into life at Diocesan.

The School Code of Conduct focuses on the core values of Service, Tradition, Achievement and Respect. We believe generosity of spirit, a sense of compassion and a concept of service are vital qualities that underpin a successful academic, spiritual, sporting, cultural and ethical education.

International Students

We welcome international students from all over the world to our school either as fee-paying or reciprocal exchange students. International students gain most by enrolling with us for their full secondary education. However enrolments may vary from six months to five years in Middle and Senior School and restricted entry is also possible at Junior School level.

Accommodation

Home stay accommodation is provided at a cost of around $NZ 250 a week. Our international students’ director provides expert guidance to students and host families.

Academic Year

The four-term school year starts in late January and finishes in early December. We encourage international students to begin at the start of the school year but accept enrolments at any time. Visit our website here and view our DVD here.

Tuition Fees

The international student fee for 2008 is $NZ 26,000. This covers tuition fees, initial stationery costs, Education Outside the Classroom camps and activities, extra-curricular activities, NCEA exam fees, full medical and travel insurance, official school photographs and a $NZ50 credit for printing charges.
