Courses Available
The University of Waikato believes in innovation and forward thinking and is constantly developing programmes to cater to the world’s changing industry environment. The qualifications offered are structured according to two principles: flexibility and an emphasis on interdisciplinary study. In the nationwide research rankings completed in 2007, Waikato was ranked No. 1 amongst New Zealand universities in the following subjects: Business, Communications, Journalism and Media Studies, Music, Literary Arts and other Arts, Chemistry, Computer Science, Ecology, Evolution and Behaviour, Biology, Mathematics, and Education.
The Academic Year
The academic year runs from March to November. It is divided into two semesters by a four-week study break in June/July. Most schools within the University offer a mid-year intake. Summer School is available for many courses. The International MBA is taught over 14 months beginning in July.
Facilities
The University of Waikato has excellent study facilities, including modern lecture rooms and laboratories, a library of almost 1 million volumes and an extensive computer network.
Waikato International is the home of international activity at the University of Waikato. The International staff coordinates Student Support, Student Recruitment, International Relationsand ongoing support throughout your studies including immigration and insurance issues. English Language tuition is available through the University of Waikato Language Institute, both prior to and as part of degree studies.
There are four halls of residence on or close by the campus, which house around 1,000 people. Our on-campus accommodation centre is also available to assist students to find homestays, shared flats and houses.

Accommodation: On-campus halls of residence $199 pw (fully catered), $95-120 pw (self-catered), homestay at approximately $196 pw, Flatting or house-sharing at approximately $70-120 pw for one room excluding other expenses.
