Facilities and Services

College facilities include a modern art suite, new food and textile technology area, science and computer laboratories, extensive sports facilities including a gymnasium and Sports Centre, music facility and modern information centre (library).

The colleges successful academic record reflects a strong emphasis on study and positive expectations for educational achievement. Staff are hard working and committed to students and considerable effort has been made to provide attractive and stimulating teaching environments.

Extracurricular Programme

The college accepts responsibility for encouraging student involvement in a wide range of sporting, outdoor and cultural activities.
Cultural activities include annual musical/drama production, choir, concert band, rock group, debating, theatresports.
Sports activities include rugby, soccer, netball, hockey, basketball, volleyball, badminton, tennis, athletics, fencing, shooting, cross-country, cricket, mountain biking, golf.

Academic Programme

Heretaunga College offers a wide range of courses to prepare students for universities, polytechnics and other tertiary institutes. National Certificate subjects are also taught.
The diverse curriculum includes: English, French, Japanese, German, Art, Accounting, Mathematics with Calculus, Mathematics with Statistics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, History, Maori, Horticulture, Art History, Physical Education, Geography, Drama, Computer Studies, Information Mangement, Legal Studies, Tourism Studies, Typing, Music, Nutrition/Foods, Clothing and Textiles, Graphics, Design Technology, and Japanese.

English Language Support

The college has an English Language Centre. A comprehensive English as a Second Language programme is offered, based upon small group, or individual tutorials supported by qualified staff.

Academic Year

All New Zealand examination courses are year long programmes commencing in late January.

Tuition Fees

School fees for 2002 are NZ$8100. (2003 - NZ$8500) Depending on choice of course of study, some subjects may have material costs. External examination fees are an extra. Uniforms are required in Years 9 - 12. (NZ$300)

Accommodation

Homestay will be arranged by the school at NZ$160 per week. The school will monitor accommodation arrangements.
