St Peter's School, Cambridge is an independent co-educational secondary and preparatory school for Years 7-13. The school has both day and boarding students and is affiliated to the Anglican Church. Founded in 1936, the school's educational philosophy is to develop "body, mind and spirit".

Location and Facilities

St Peter's School, Cambridge is located on over 194 hectares of land, 3 minutes from the town of Cambridge and 20 minutes from the university city of Hamilton. The facilities are modern and include 5 faculty based teaching centres with attached computer suites, an auditorium, sports centre and gymnasium, artificial hockey turf, students' centre, swimming pool, equestrian centre, numerous sports fields, clay tennis courts, and a golf academy

Academic Programme

The school is accredited to deliver the New Zealand curriculum Years 7 to 13. It offers a wide range of academic subjects in mathematics, sciences, social sciences, business, arts and technology as well as vocationally focused subjects. Excellent results are achieved in national examinations.

Special Features

The school focuses on development of the whole person, including development through sports, outdoor education and leadership opportunities. An equestrian centre offers both academic and sporting options with horses grazed on -site. An international department is staffed by highly qualified teachers and student services staff.

Extracurricular Programme

An extensive range of activities are offered throughout the year in sports, music and the performing arts. All students Years 7-11 must participate in a sport and cultural activity. Senior students are encouraged to participate and most do so.

Special Relations with Overseas Schools

As part of its internationalisation philosophy St Peter's has links with schools in Fiji, Canada, Japan, Scotland, Tanzania and Thailand.

Student Welfare

The school is a signatory to the Code of Practice and has developed a wide range of student services and support programmes. Support is provided by the International Student Manager, a Student Services Officer, a Homestay Coordinator and international mentors. Supervision extends beyond the school gates throughout the school year.

Accommodation

There are eight age related Boarding Houses for girls and boys, accommodating over 420 students. The school also selects, monitors and administers a homestay programme.

English Language Entry Requirements

Students must meet language proficiency requirements which are stated on the school web site and in the prospectus. Students may be required to complete an intensive English course prior to entry.

English Support

A specialized ESOL department delivers English course from years 7 to 13, including Year 11 to 13 NCEA courses which assist students to achieve national qualifications as well as IELTS preparation.

International boarding, including tuition NZ$29,800, International Day NZ$21,000.
