Leon Lin
Name: Leon Lin
Born: Taiwan
Locations: Christchurch - Canterbury
Discipline: Architecture and Building
Originally from Taiwan, Leon Lin first came to New Zealand for secondary school education, completing Years 11 – 13 at Christchurch Boys’ High School. He then decided to continue his tertiary studies here, completed a Bachelor of Property at the University of Auckland.
Currently Leon has chosen to stay in New Zealand and works as a Property Valuer for Seagar & Partners Ltd in Auckland. He believes his university studies have led directly to career success. “Lecturers and the programme introduced us to the property community and we worked in different areas during the period of learning. By experiencing every area of specialty during studies, it was easier to make good choices.
Whilst in New Zealand, Leon has enjoyed making friendships with New Zealanders – “they are always positive, humble, generous and always give things a shot.” This attitude has definitely rubbed off on Leon! He has completely embraced the huge range of recreational opportunities available in New Zealand. He lists the highlights:
"* Skiing, most of it downhill. I have skied in places like Coronet Peak, Remarkables, Mt Hutt and Mt Ruapehu
* Golfing, you know – a big club and a little white ball that you hit around all the course! There are cheap green fees and nice courses everywhere.
* Scuba Diving. New Zealand has one of the best non-polluted diving environments with great scenery, though it is a big chilly under the water. I am a certified PADI diver.
* Flying – with certified instructors doing aerobatics, standard landings, departures and taxiing with a four-seater aeroplane.”
Certainly, this has been a life-changing experience for Leon. “New Zealand education has been very inspirational. I have learned to be creative and original, not to be a ‘copycat’."
Christchurch is the main centre of the Canterbury region, an elegant old city close to the Southern Alps.
