International PhD Scholarships Benefit NZ

Thirty-eight top doctoral research students from around the world have been offered New Zealand International Doctoral Research Scholarships (NZIDRS), funded by the New Zealand Ministry of Education, and administered by Education New Zealand. These outstanding students will be working in New Zealand on their PhDs, many taking on projects that will have the potential for major benefits in this country.

A group of 23 Jambi academic staff have just completed their Certificate in Professional Teaching Practice at Whitireia Community Polytechnic's Auckland Campus. A delegation had come to New Zealand to review the progress of students and to sign a continuation of a formal arrangement which has allowed for academic staff from tertiary institutions in Jambi to study in New Zealand for four months to upgrade their skills in academic English and in teaching.

The New Zealand government and the European Commission are co-funding a university-based programme which will focus on developing better technology to monitor the parameters of climate change such as temperature, gas concentration and water quality.
