Chile Sends Aquaculture Students to New Zealand
Monday, 10 August 2009
The Government of Chile has made a deal with Mahurangi Technical Insitute (MTI) in New Zealand to help train up to 40 Chilean students per year in aquaculture.
The certificate in aquatic studies is a 44 week programme that covers fin-fish biology, aquatic microbiology, shellfish biology, hatchery management, live food production and aquaculture facility management.
The Chilean "Technicians for Chile" initiative will fund the students as part of a programme to train Chilean graduates at international locations in the practical aspects of their field.
The first students will arrive in New Zealand in February 2010. MTI is currently the only New Zealand institution involved in the "Technicians for Chile" initiative.
