The Master of Science (MSc) is a two-year full-time degree which can be taken in the subject areas offered for the BSc (Hons) as well as in Mathematics Education and Science Education (Part 2 only) and in Stochastic Processes in Finance and Insurance (Parts 1 and 2).
In 2006, new MSc degrees were introduced in:
- Cross-cultural Psychology
- Ecological Restoration
- Electronic and Computer System Engineering
- Geomicrobiology
- Molecular Microbiology
- Petroleum Geoscience
In 2007, we are offering a new MSc degree in Heritage Materials Science.
In 2008, we intend to offer a new MSc in Geophysical Hazard Monitoring.
The degree is made up of two parts:
- Part 1 is in most cases the same programme as a BSc (Hons), but the Research course is replaced with a Research Preparation course;
- Part 2 is a thesis, to be presented usually after a minimum of 12 months and a maximum of 18 months of research. An Honours degree leads to direct entry to Part 2.
