Heejoo Cho

It is a big decision for families to send their child to another country however an international education – with good opportunities to learn the English language – was very important to the parents of Heejoo. “My parents decided that New Zealand would be best for my secondary education.”

Now in Year 13 at Chilton St James School in Lower Hutt (part of the Wellington region), Heejoo is enjoying both her study programme and the New Zealand lifestyle. “I enjoy studying English. Many New Zealanders have experienced different countries and cultures which I believe give them open minds.

Life is more relaxed here – I enjoy not being in a rush. I’ve enjoyed bush walking. A highlight for me was visiting Auckland and going up the Sky Tower. And I like New Zealand ice cream!

Next step for Heejoo will be university, something she believes will be much easier thanks to her time at Chilton. “I think this school will help me to go to university because I have learnt a lot of English, and improved my education. My long term goal is to produce advertisements.”
