I arrived at Spotswood College in July 2009. It is a great school with plenty of oportunities. The teachers and the school environment are fantastic. It is a lovely atmosphere and I'm sure that you will not find such a cool school like that again! The subjects which I chose were: Music, Food and Nutrition, Maths and Calculus, Sports and Recreation and ESOL (English for Speakers of other Languages). However, there is plenty of other subjects, like Woodwork, Metal, Geographics, Physics and so on. My favourite subject at school was music because of the endless oportunities. The music room has got around 15 guitars, ukuleles, several pianos and keyboards and its own fantastic recording studio, which is just incredible!  Another great thing about Spotswood College is the students. I have never felt endangered or have been the victim of racism during my time in Taranaki. The students accept your culture and are really interested to be friends with you and share their culture. They are openminded and fabulous friends and it does not take long and you are involved in the normal kiwi lifestyle. I have a great homestay family, mum, dad, and four kids!. One of the highlights of my time in New Plymouth has been learning to surf with my host brother!
