Vanessa Er Hui Zheng

I am from Johor Bahru, Malaysia and doing a Bachelor of Biomedical Science at the Faculty of Science, majoring in Molecular Pharmacology and Medical Chemistry.

A few years ago I came to New Zealand on a high school trip. During my visit I really enjoyed the clean environment and friendly people and made up my mind that I would come back to do university studies.

I found the first year of study to be reasonably easy as I adjusted to student life in university accommodation. The university hostel was a fun way to start out and a great way to meet friends, but I missed Malaysian food sometimes.
I am now in my second year of study and flatting with friends. The courses have become considerably more demanding compared to my first year, but I am enjoying a Spanish language elective and have applied for a semester of study at UC Berkeley onthe Victoria University exchange programme.

In the future I am looking towards a career working for a major pharmaceutical company,or working in dietetics and nutrition.
