Shane has always wanted to travel and see the world outside the US. “I chose New Zealand because everything I had seen and heard showed that it is one of the most beautiful places on Earth and I also wanted to go to an English-speaking country.”
Shane is from Tucson in Arizona in the US and he is studying Business at the Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. He has found the Maori and International Marketing classes to be very interesting. “I am able to see a different perspective on how the rest of the world views things. It’s especially interesting in my International Marketing class trying to think like a Kiwi businessman and to take my business or product abroad to the rest of the world.”
Shane is enjoying the student lifestyle at Canterbury. “I love that the University of Canterbury student body embraces their student organised groups. Groups are not nearly as popular in the States and it’s great to see so many people get excited about their different student groups.”
He says the people in Christchurch are hospitable and friendly. “I like downtown Christchurch and how people-friendly it is. The nightlife is fun and exciting. Most of all I love getting out into the countryside and seeing all of the beautiful sights that New Zealand has to offer. This country is very hiker and camper friendly which is just amazing.
I’m already planning on returning to New Zealand so that I bring my friends and family with me to experience all that this amazing country has to offer.”
