Zimbabwean Student Wins Computer Prize at Lincoln

Lincoln University's Jade Prize for 2008 went to international student Makagona Mukoki from Zimbabwe, as the top computers student at the university.

(via Lincoln University) In five of the ten years since the Jade Prize was established, it has been won by international students. The Prize is worth $2000 and is sponsored by Jade Software Corporation.

Makagona's winning ways have also let to another prize. Earlier in 2008 she received the Hewlett-Packard NZ Awards for excellence in Information Technology. Having already earned her bachelor degree in Electronic Engineering, Makagona is studying for a Graduate Diploma in Software and Information Technology.

Lincoln University is located near Christchurch on New Zealand's South Island. It is the country's smallest university, with a roll of around 4500 students ensuring no student gets lost in a crowd.
