Prestigious Award for International Student at CPIT

Thursday, 26 March 2009

Representatives from the City & Guilds of London Institute were at “Visions on Campus” last Friday, to present one of Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology’s Professional Cookery students with its prestigious Excellence Award.

(via CPIT) Naoko Hibino was presented with a Medal for Excellence in recognition of her Outstanding Performance in Food Preparation and Cooking. The internationally-reputable award also recognises CPIT for its high standard of teaching and training for the Food & Hospitality industry.

City & Guilds is the UK's leading provider of vocational qualifications, offering more than 500 awards across a wide range of industries, and progressing from entry level to the highest levels of professional achievement.

Winning awards of the highest calibre is nothing new for Naoko. Last year, the international student from Japan took part in the CPIT Salon Culinaire competition, where she won both Gold and Bronze awards.

Karen Te Puke, Head of the School of Food & Hospitality, said the award was a tremendous result for both Naoko personally and the School as a whole.

When Naoko finishes her training, she plans to travel overseas to experience Europe’s culinary culture. Until then, she recommends anyone thinking about studying Food & Hospitality at CPIT to follow their dreams.

“Having a curiosity, hunger for knowledge or dream that you desire is the ticket for your success in life,” she says.
