Long Bay College
Long Bay College is a highly regarded Decile 10 state co-educational secondary school located in a beautiful setting on Auckland's North Shore overlooking the Hauraki Gulf. Academic Programme
We offer a wide range of subjects, multi level courses and a flexible individualised approach which means that we provide for gifted and talented students as well as those who need extra support.Our high standards for achievement and behaviour and our professionaland caring teachers support students to reach their personal best. Students are prepared for qualifications and tertiary study and are equipped with workplace skills for the 21st century. Results have steadily increased over the last 3 years and recent academic results show that Long Bay College is currently 2% above other Decile 10 schools.
Student Welfare
The Dean of International students, together with other international staff, monitors international students' academic progress and oversees their pastoral care.As part of our ongoing developments we now offer additional ESOL classes in Maths and English after school. We will continue to monitor the experience of international students at Long Bay College to ensure they receive the best possible experience.
Sports
A strong sporting programme promotes individual pride and school spirit. We encourage participation and excellence by supporting a wide variety of codes. The Sportswork Complex, containing the 'one of a kind' climbing wall is the hub of the College's commitment to keeping our students active and healthy. An elite sports programme caters for talented athletes who are identified and developed to a New Zealand level by the High Performance Sports Manager.
The Arts
We take great pride in our widely-acknowledged excellence in graphics, design, visual arts and performing arts. Students can choose from a wide range of options and are encouraged to explore the passion of their choices with the support of specialist staff and purpose built facilities.
School Facilities
Long Bay College provides high quality facilities and resources to support effective teaching and learning. Facilities include:- International student centre, ESOL suite, Computers in every classroom, Science centre, Graphics suites and Technology workshops.
Accommodation
Most of the international students at Long Bay College stay in homestay families. Homestay families are carefully chosen and enable students to experience New Zealand way of life and practice their English in a family environment.
